This is the piece that so many people miss. If you don’t understand this critical piece of the puzzle, either you will never get healthier (like most people), or it will be a monumental struggle the whole way.

The "Motivational Triad" explains how every creature on Earth is motivated.

After decades of studying evolutionary biology, and conducting original research and clinical studies, Dr. Douglas Lisle, PhD., author of The Pleasure Trap, discovered what he calls “The Motivational Triad.”

The Motivational Triad explains how every creature on earth is motivated. The more a behavior or activity helps us to attain pleasure, avoid pain, and do it with the least amount of effort, the more likely we are to do that behavior.

If a behavior or activity delivers little or no pleasure, and creates pain instead of alleviating it, and requires lots of effort, then we will naturally AVOID that behavior or activity... because that’s how our brains are hardwired.

Consider a diet, for example.

Most diets provide very little pleasure, are very painful to do, and require a ton of effort.

Do you see now why almost no one can stick to a diet?

All biological creatures (including humans) are hardwired to stick with those activities that create the most pleasure, help us avoid the most pain, and do it all with the least amount of effort expended... and most diets are the OPPOSITE of ALL of those things.

How about a new exercise routine or some sessions with a new personal trainer?

Most exercise routines and personal training sessions:

  1. Are very painful — physically and mentally
  2. Provide very little pleasure (unless you stick with it for months or years)
  3. Require tons of effort

So, is it any wonder that most people don’t stick with new exercise routines or personal trainers, either?

Most people don’t stick with diets, exercise routines, and health programs because... most of the people who design these diets, exercise routines, and health programs don’t understand how motivation really works — they aren’t aware of “The Motivational Triad” and they don’t design their programs to WORK WITH our brains and ALIGN WITH “The Motivational Triad.”

Because most diets, exercise routines, and health programs are IN CONFLICT with “The Motivational Triad,” most humans will AVOID doing them, because that is how we are HARDWIRED.

It’s taken me DECADES to figure all of this out, but...

REASON 1: Many health and fitness program don’t work because, as I mentioned above, they are unintentionally designed to make people want to AVOID doing them, because they are in conflict with “The Motivational Triad” — they deliver very little or no pleasure, they usually create pain instead of alleviating it, and they usually require a lot of effort and time. Because of this design flaw, people don’t stick with the programs, and don’t get the results they want.

REASON 2: Another reason many health and fitness programs don’t work is they aren’t based on real scientific studies and research.

This is because the people that design health and fitness programs — doctors, physical therapists, and other health professionals, don’t usually have the time, or the inclination to dig through medical and scientific research, carefully design a program that precisely follows the conclusions of that research, and then test it with real people in the real world to make sure it works.

But, I DO have the time… for ALL of that. Finding solutions for people’s pain and injuries, and designing health and wellness programs that actually work for people... is all I do. It’s my full-time job.

So, I have all the time I need to carefully go through the research… and design the RIGHT kind of program… that follows the recommendations of the research… and then test that program with real clients until I KNOW it works.

Do you know why it’s so hard for so many people to eat healthy... on a consistent basis?

Who created LIFELONG WELLNESS ACADEMY?

I USE RESEARCH, STUDY, AND HANDS-ON TESTING TO FIND WHAT REALLY WORKS TO HEAL INJURIES, ELIMINATE PAIN, AND IMPROVE HEALTH.
